ABOUT. . .

David Krupla is a freelance lighting designer who loves to work on new and classic plays, musicals, opera, and dance. 

 

His previous design credits include, King John and Much Ado About Nothing at Nebraska Shakespeare; She Loves MeHansel & GretelIago’s PlotFebruary Dance: Designed Environments, Dream Girls, and In the Blood at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; These are the Times workshop production at Cleveland Public Theatre; The World Goes Round at Porthouse Theatre.  He has also worked with such companies as Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, The Santa Fe Opera, and Great Lakes Theatre. 

 

David is currently the Events Technical Coordinator at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. As the technical coordinator, David works with a vast number of touring companies whose productions are of the highest caliber. On any given day, he can be found in one of the five venues in the Krannert Center working with a team of Lighting, Audio, Media, and Technical staff members to ensure that the audience has a truly unique experience. 

 

He holds an MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA from Kent State University.
